Buying Fine Musical Instruments

Buying with Bromptons is simple and transparent. We are aware that for many of our clients, the instrument they may end up with is going to be their companion for the next few decades and, ultimately, their pension.

1. Auction

There are a number of ways you can bid at auction, whether the buyer wishes to attend the auction and bid in person, or leave a commission bid, the process is open and fair. Bromptons commission charges are less than those at Sotheby’s or Christie’s and clients are afforded every opportunity to try the instruments in the weeks before the sale.

Bid online prior to the auction

If you can’t attend the auction in person you can request that the auctioneer bid on your behalf

How to bid online

Bid in person at the auction

After a short registration process, you will be issued with a paddle number to identify you to the auctioneer and then you are free to bid.

How to buy at auction

Bid over the telephone

To bid by phone, call Brompton’s at least 24 hours before the auction.  Register your details and the lots you are interested in. Brompton's will contact you roughly ten lots before your instrument is coming under the hammer.
