Following the move from their Hanover Square offices, Bromptons arenow working under the umbrella of Spink & Son. Founded in 1666 andthe holder of three royal warrants. The business was founded by John Spink, principally as a goldsmith'sand pawnbroker's, based in Lombard Street, London. It narrowly escapeddestruction when the Great Fire of London swept through the City, butafter a short spell in other premises it returned to the rebuiltLombard Street. Spink & Son received their first Royal Warrant formedals services to Queen Victoria. in the year 1900. Spink now holdsthree royal warrants for medal services to HRH Queen Elizabeth, HRH theDuke of Edinburgh, and HRH the Prince of Wales; in addition to arecently awarded warrant for philatelic services to HRH QueenElizabeth. In 1993, Christie's acquired Spink from Andrew Weir & CoLtd and integrated its own coin and medal department into Spink. In2002 Spink & Son was bought from Christie’s by an investmentcapital group. |
